Welcome to the West Bretton Bowling Club website. The Club offers a very warm welcome to crown green bowlers of all ages and abilities. We are keen to meet prospective new members.
We offer competitive bowling through our involvement in local leagues and also welcome those bowlers who just want to play on a social basis (without worrying too much about the score!)
For our competitive bowlers we participate in the following local leagues:
- Ossett & Horbury
- Wakefield Workshops
- Saturday
- Wakefield Veterans
We have two teams in the Wakefield Workshops (Wednesday night) and Ossett & Horbury (Thursday night) leagues and one team apiece in the Saturday and Veterans leagues.
We will be updating the website with our results and league tables as the season progresses. Do visit again and see how well we are doing!
We welcome new members of any age or ability. Prior knowledge or experience is not required as full coaching is given and all equipment is provided.
OUR HISTORY
The bowling green was first laid out in 1925 upon land which is owned by the Bretton Memorial Institute Charity number 523524.
With a few interruptions over the years crown green bowling has been played in West Bretton for nearly 100 years and certainly continuously since 1974.
